“There is no garden as beautiful as childhood.” A day celebrating childhood since its inception in 1964 commemorating the birthday of our loving first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, was celebrated in the same fervour as yesteryears even though it was virtual. The program began with a lovely prayer service by the teachers invoking God’s blessings on the students and their families along with a lovely prayer dance. As light diffuses darkness so does knowledge eradicate the ignorance and paves the way for social upliftment. So does a teacher who ignites the fire that fuels the students’ thirst for knowledge.
Thus on this auspicious day, the teachers along with the Principal, Sr. Roseveera; Vice Principal Sr. Marina; Sr. Ida Barboza the Joint Secretary of Mary Immaculate Institutions and Sr. Clare the administrator lit the lamp in the chapel of the school and their respective homes. The students and the parents were duly welcomed by our senior teacher, Mrs. Maria Frederick. This was followed by a colourful cultural program which had a dash of music, a comedy skit depicting the satire on online classes, a fusion dance and a lovely presentation showing the school and the teachers missing the very heart of the building – our students. Our Principal , Sr. Rosevera in her message asked the children to cling on to their heavenly virtues of innocence, truthfulness and purity of heart even while they pursue their dreams. Zuneira of Std Xth in her vote of thanks expressed her gratitude to the teachers and the management for the wonderful program and their blessings. Sr. Clare in her concluding message reiterated the importance of nurturing the children with love and respect for a brighter future and thanked the teachers for the stupendous team work in putting up the program in spite of the pandemic.
