September 2023 When we make the right choices, we become beacons of light to others.

Venerable Mother Veronica is that beacon who illuminated the lives of millions around the world through education, orphanages, home for the aged, care for the sick and the poor to name a few. The year 2023 being the birth bi-centenary year of this dynamic foundress, a life saving blood donation drive was held in the auditorium of Mary Immaculate School in collaboration with Kidwai Hospital and St. John's Medical College and Hospitalas a tribute to this wonderful human being on 9th September. The event began with a prayer service led by the teachers' choir team and Rev Fr. Paneer Selva Kumar , Parish Priest of St. Michael's Church, who was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Kanakyadas, Asst. Parish Priest. Sr. Celine Vera, the Joint Secretary of Mary Immaculate Institutions, welcomed the gathering in unequivocal words of joy and gratitude for being a part of the programme and felicitated the dignitaries with saplings denoting life and hope.

To commece the event, the dignitaries of the day Dr. Sr. Ancilla, the General Secretary of Education, who was also the chief guest of the day, Sr. Aradhana, the General Secretary, Rev. Fr. Paneer Selva Kumar, Rev. Fr Kanakyadas, the Parish Priest and Asst. Parish Priest of St Michael's Church Dr.Parimala,St. John's Medical College and Hospital Dr. Deepa, Kidwai Hospital, Mr. Jaffar Sait, PTA Vice President lit the lamp of life. This was followed by the sprinkling of the holy water by Fr. Paneer Selva Kumar.

Dr. Parimala, in her message, appreciated the efforts taken by the school management in organising this camp and explained the health benefits of donating blood not only to the recipients but also to the donors.

The chief guest of the day, Dr. Sr. Ancilla A. C., the general secretary for education in her message, left an indelible mark in the hearts of the audience by saying, "Let's emulate a little bit of Mother Veronica by sharing blood and saving lives." The event also marked the gracious presence of 200 guests. Mrs. Farzana proposed the vote of thanks.

The camp was a resounding success with many coming forward to donate and 124 units of blood collected. The donors were rewarded a sapling each with a note thanking them for being life savers.

Sr. Rosevera, Principal of Mary Immaculate School as a convenor of the day meticulously planned and systematically executed the programme in collaboration with the community sisters and campus staff.

The day ended with a sumptuous lunch.
