The 77th Independence Day was celebrated in our school with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The chief guest of the day, Dr. Rajshekhar C. Jaka,  Surgical Oncology and Robotic Surgeon was escorted by Sr. Celine Vera, the Joint Secretary of Mary Immaculate Institutions, Sr Clare , the School Administrator,  Sr. Sevika the Headmistress of Mary Immaculate High School,  Sr. Rosevera principal of Mary Immaculate School along with PTA Executive Members and senior teachers and were led by our resplendent school band.

The school choir led the gathering in prayer with their soulful singing. Sr. Rosevera welcomed the gathering and divulged the theme of the day : " Agriculture: India's backbone." Sister urged in her message to take pride in being an Indian and to exercise freedom with responsibility. The guests were welcomed with a basket of grains each to reimphasise the importance of agriculture to save ourselves from future colonization. After the chief guest had unfurled the flag, students of all the four houses led by their respective Captain and Vice Captain, School Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl, School Sports Captain and Vice captain began their march past.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The chief guest, in his message, appreciated the students and teachers for the discipline and appealed to the students to be innovators and game changers rather than being in a cocoon of make-believe situations.

The cultural program based on the theme of agriculture was an operetta beautifully planned and executed on the plight of Indian farmers,  middlemen and the various schemes offered by the government. The students performed beautifully under the tutelage of teachers Mrs. Bindu Shaji,  Mrs. Anitha P,  Mrs Anitha J, Mrs. Febita,  Mrs. Lalitha, Mrs. Lavanya and Mrs. Roshiny. The sound recording and editing were done by Mrs. Shwetha. The skaters showcased their talents under the guidance of Mrs.Smitha.

The emcees for the day were Mrs. Monica Jennifer,  Tanushree Rajshekhar and Yuva Darshini. The vote of thanks was proposed by Jeevitha.
