Since 1989, 26th June is celebrated annually as World Drug Day to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving the goal of a world free of drug abuse. In keeping with this year's theme, " People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention " the government of Karnataka took a noble decision to create awareness among the high school students.

Inspector Ravi Kumar of Adugodi Police Station and his team gave a presentation on the importance of the day. The following topics were discussed:
1) Kinds of drugs and its harmful effects.
2) Different means of drugs consumption.
3) Factors responsible for the increase in drugs consumption.
4) Drug peddlers and their target crowd.
5) Punishment meted out to Drug peddlers and consumers.
6) Crimes perperterated against women and the various clauses in the Indian law for the safety of women.
7) POCSO Act.

The session was informative and interactive. The students were responsive and made use of the time to ask relevant questions on sexual abuse and the Nirbhaya tragedy.

Sr. Rosevera, the principal welcomed Mr. Ravi Kumar and his team and appreciated their efforts in spreading awareness. The vote of thanks was proposed by Harshita S of std 10.
